Amanda and Joseph’s Engagement Pictures at Sugar Plantation and Sugar Mill, Louisiana
Back in February the Double Windsor crew had the opportunity to shoot Amanda and Joseph’s Engagement Pictures at Sugar Plantation and Sugar Mill in Louisiana.
We first met Amanda to book a basic package for engagement pictures, bridals, and two wedding day shooters. By the end of the meeting, Amanda & her mom asked us to create a new package to additionally cover all of the wedding weekend activities planned (bachelorette bubbly brunch, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, and cocktail welcome party).
How they met: “On March 21, 2015 we each went to the second birthday party for Lavinnia, the daughter of a John Deere co-worker (Amanda's old job / Joseph's new job). Unknowingly, we were both invited as a setup by her parents.”
How he proposed: “At the finish line of a Tough Mudder with both our families.”
The next big decision was where to shoot their engagement pictures. Amanda and Joseph wanted something symbolic to their relationship but not blatantly obvious. As soon as they said that was their goal the Double Windsor team knew the perfect venue, Sugar Plantion and Sugar Mill in Louisiana since sugarcane and manufacturing are key to the start of their story! Amanda was an engineer at John Deere in Thibodaux, Louisiana; where many pieces of equipment are manufactured but mainly the sugarcane harvester. After she began working for another manufacturing company, Joseph moved from Pennsylvania to begin working in as an engineer for John Deere in Thibodaux. Chad, an engineer who worked with Amanda a few years prior, and his wife, Marguerite, devised a plan for a secret setup. Chad and Marguerite invited Amanda and Joseph to come to the second birthday party for their daughter, Lavinnia. Our favorite part of this shoot was learning about all the sugarcane equipment! Amanda and Joseph were completely enamored by the history of the plantation and their manufacturing process equipment from its operational days. Enjoy!
